Rent Party
Harlem in the 1930s was a crowded place, and rentals were scarce. As the demand for rental accommodation rose, so did the rents. The rent party was one solution. Renters would hold parties and neighbours would pay to attend. The proceeds paid the rent. The music was loud, the crowd was rowdy and the dancing was hot.
We throw a party to help us pay our rent: stay up late, get gone, and flatfoot floogy (with our DJs Matt Riddle, (Melbourne) Anthony Wheaton (Melbourne) and the floy floy) at our place.
